Sensible Children (public info film)

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Does anyone remember the public information film about playing near rivers and old gravel pits filled with water? As a young lad of 6 or 7, the comment "sensible children, I have no power of these" by a spooky, shadowy cloaked figure (that eventually turns into an old rag) certainly gave me the shivers. It was undoubtedly a 3 minute masterpiece.

Gotta be the most atmospheric two minutes ever - they wouldn't get away with it today (too scary before 9 o'clock). Did the trick though, scared me stupid!

I'm still terrified by gravel pits and the like because of the Lonely Water ad. We were actually encouraged to be superstitious rather than safety conscious! Did the job though.

I remember these at school. I hated the electrocution one with the kite! Blimey...the Saw trilogy's of today have nothing on them! They WERE short horror films! And the one where the kid gets his leg trapped in a train track!

I know the one - it is called "Lonely Water", after the terrifyingly nonchalant opening line: "I am the spirit of dark and lonely water..." If you want to see it again, it is on the Charley Says DVD (see http://www.amazon.co.uk/Charley-Says-Public-Information-Films/dp/B0001HK0JI/sr=8-1/qid=1171979875/ref=pd_ka_1/203-2108110-8447139?ie=UTF8&s=dvd).
