Let's Pretend

Let's Pretend brings back memories of rushing home for lunch when I was at Primary School in the early to mid eighties. It was on the 12.10-12.30 slot and started off with the this funny worm like puppet being moved to the slow theme tune (which sounded like a 45 rpm record being played at 33rpm and someone farting in a high pitched manner, with lyrics which must have taken all of 2 minutes to compose).

Then some poor actor had to come up with a play to act in the last five minutes with the stuff he'd found round the studio. Not a favourite of mine, but it must have struck a chord with everyone else as it ran for ages...

Brilliant mishearing! Lyrics at the end were "let's pretend is at an end" As one of the presenters-- I can say that we were all proud of the show!

My favourite episode was when they made a tent out of a large bit of cloth and two chairs. Made one straight after much to the annoyance of my Mum who was just about to 'set the table' for lunch

Sorry to say, but I hated this programme. The reason is simple -- it replaced the legendary Pipkins, which I think was produced at ATV's Elstree studios, which I believe were closed when it became Central.

Ahh, sweet memories of wierdo kids programmes.."Let?s pretend, you?ve got a friend" (or at least I think those were the lyrics?) and yep! Heather there was a caterpillar thingie on sticks that was wafted in mid air making a muffled "wow" noise and yet people thought the Tellytubbies were wierd...!

I used to love Let's Pretent but I only remember vague bits of it - I think I remember at the beginning things going along a sort of conveyor belt and a worm/caterpillar thing on sticks that made a funny little noise!
