Harrington Jackets

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Harrington Jackets were short bomber type jackets, made out of a cotton like material, with a zip up the front, and side pockets. They were worn mostly by skinheads.

I remember them being really cool at school around 82 or 83ish. Real ones were jet black cotton outer with a red tartan lining. Tesco made a copy of them that was more charcoal grey and the lining was orangy tartan ! Back then wearing anything from tesco (with the big Tesco tick logo on the label - "checkitout, checkitout.....at Tesco " - remember the adverts !) was embarrassing enough, but having a fake Harrington with the Tesco tick label in was just asking for a kicking in the playground. How cruel kids could be :-(

Ahhh, but can you not remember the back of the harrington? No? You can't remember the LARGE Felt letters that our NAME was printed on in! I had a black jacket with DONNA printed on in red felt, and my sister had a red jacket with DEBRA printed on in black felt. Awesome worn with Pod shoes and Farah slacks - Farah slacks anyone????
