Wrestling

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Saturday lunchtimes, just after Tiswas (ahhh, Sally James) meant wrestling on ITV. Even then, at the tender age of 8 it was apparent that it was more theatre than sport.

"Good afternoon grapple fans and welcome to the Bradford city hall" good old Kent Walton the voice of wrestling on World of Sport every Saturday afternoon. It always seemed to come from some northern town in the old days ! Mick McManus, Big Daddy all the rest with some cracking names like Farmers boy Pete somebody or Superstar Mal Sanders. Much better than the plastic american ones now !!! ;-)

Saturday afternoon wrestling, my granny's favourite. Giant Haystacks and Big Daddy. Better than WWF. Well, seemed better entertainment when I was younger, now I know they're putting it on!

I loved the British Bulldog! I nearly cried when I read in the paper about him dying. He was a wrestling legend and did the UK proud! Haven't found anyone to beat him yet!

WWF wrestling..... the British Bulldog, I remember! My big bro liked to practice wrestling moves on me and my little bro and sister, until he pulled my little bro's arm out of the socket (he was about 2 at the time)And we had to take a trip to the Hospital! Wrestling was then BANNED in my house!!
