Grolsch caps on shoes

This was a look inspired by the 80s band Bros.Basically you would get two Grolsch bottle caps and put one on each of your shoes, attaching them through the shoelace holes and then when you walked around they kind of click clacked up and down. They were eventually banned at my school, all the kids were into it, me included... very strange look indeed!

Large, clumpy black shoes with Grolsh bottle tops on them. Mmmmm, nice.

Me and my best mate once had a night, (Circa Bros)! on the Grolsch. My mate noticed my older brothers shoes in the hall and it was a Friday night. He always used to leave them by the door to slip them on and fly out to work on a Saturday morning. So we customised them....he was half way up the street before he realised there was something, quite, not right! Lol!

For those who didn't want to be seen to be Bros fans (music for girls) you could always fashion a Grolsch top into a keyring. With hindsight, equally pathetic but not at the time, of course.

Ah yes, good old Bros and their Grolsch bottle tops. From what I remember though, it was a difficult look to achieve. First there was the problem of persuading tight-fisted dads to buy expensive bottles of Grolsch (with the desired cap) down the pub instead of their usual pints, then once you eventually got hold of a couple, you couldn't figure out how to attach them to your shoes. Dads were inevitably pestered again for pliers etc to shape and twist the wires on the tops into a shoe friendly shape that would hold. Great fun though.
