Opal Fruits

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

'Made to make your mouth water' Opal Fruits (now renamed 'Starburst') were slightly crunchy on the outside and chewy in the midddle. The Opal Fruit sweets had lurid colours and overwhelmingly fake flavours.

I remember the 'mint ones' well (Pacers) but couldn't remember their name, thanks for that. Unfortunately my memory is of rushing out of the classroom across the playground to the outside toilets and being violently sick at school. To be fair it was nothing to do with the sweets which up until then I had really loved. Once recovered several days later I could never again put them to my lips and the sweet waxy mint smell.....Yuk.However lime Opal Fruits always my favourite !

'My' favourite Opal Fruits were the Strawberry, Lemon and Lime (two 'separate' lemon and lime flavours); I do like the new Blackcurrant flavour in the newer 'Starburst', I liked the 'original' Strawberry Mix chews - Strawberry, Strawberry & Kiwi, Strawberry & Banana and Strawberry Punch and I 'really' liked the Opal Fruits 'lollies' which were either lemon or strawberry flavour and had bits of fruit moulded on them.

Lime was definitely my top choice. The they replaced lime with cherry and though I liked the cherry better than the strawberry, for some reason I quit buying them. I know that Starburst are the same thing but for some reaon they just don't seem the same. Perhaps that's why I ditched them.

I love Opal Fruits and I am really annoyed that they have renamed them as Starburst, that is just b******s, isnt it, they will always be Opal Fruits in my eyes, I loved the lime ones cos when you ate them, it would make your mouth go all funny, like when you eat a lemon and it makes your mouth all screwed up.

Loved the lime flavour Opal Fruits. Asda are currently doing limited edition packs of "Opal Fruits" for all us that remember then! All four original flavours: lime, strawberry, orange and lemon.

I always thought of Opal fruits as grown ups sweets as they were quite bitter and I didn't like them all that much. You get different flavours in Starburst. In Opal fruits it used to be orange, lemon, lime and strawberry.
