Gino Ginelli

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Gino Ginelli was a range of ice-creams popular in the late 80s, early 90s. The best flavour was toffee fudge (pronounced 'toffee-fooogee' in the adverts), that had toffee pieces in it. There was also a tutti fruitti flavour and mint choc chip, or 'minty choccy chip' as the authentic Italian on the advert told us.

I'm amazed nobody has mentioned my favourite, the choc & nut one that had whole hazelnuts in it. Bootiful. I could quite easily eat a whole (1 litre round tub) to my lard-arse self.

I still use a Gino Ginelli box as a lunch box for work! Did anyone else hate the TV commercial for this stuff?

Wow! I can't believe other people remember it! They were in round tubs. Does anyone else remember the frozen cream (different to ice cream) you could buy around about the same time that Gino Ginelli was out. When you scooped it out and put it with desserts it was like real cream when it thawed. Perhaps I imagined it. I was only small.

Gino-oh-Gino Ginelleeeee...the jingle went lol. Yep this was the stab at 'luxury' ice cream post-Vienetta and pre-Haagen Dazs.
