Adverts ADVERTS

Carling Black Label

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

"I bet he drinks Carling Black Label" was the slogan to this 80's advertising campaign for lager.

With reference to the below. No Tony you are not going mad. I was an extra on that advert. It was filmed at Dreamland in Margate. I was looking for it tonight as well and only found your post. The Roller Coaster it was filmed on was the Scenic Railway. 2 days ago someone set fire to it. One of the oldest working wooden roller coasters in the world, very sad! Ok so can someone tell me im not going mad then as Im sure I remember one of the carling adverts being a man in a wheelchair being "pushed" onto a roller coaster ride.I cannot find a single item on it anywhere, are we such a "politically correct" society that we cant mention this one?

"If the pint you like gives you that bit more, you can bet it's Carling Black Label". Still one of my favourite beers.

Rest assured, you're not going mad. I also dearly remember the awesome 3 parter CBL advert; For those who can't remember or never saw it: Starts with a fairly cliche Western, with a really weedy guy in a saloon. A bunch of bad guys (or marshals), come in after him, he runs away, and they all lasso him, at which point he runs off and pulls all of them dragging behind him. Cut to our two guys in the bar - "I bet he drinks CBL...". Ends. New advert starts: Supermarket Washing Powder Challenge - "will you swap two boxes of your own brand with..." cheesy host takes the box off the shelf to reveal... the face of the same weedy cowboy, who then runs through the supermarket dragging the same guys behind him, followed by guys on horses and ensemble.. Checkout assistant: "I bet he drinks CBL...". Ends. THIRD advert starts (we're talking a full 4 minutes by now), "Classic Love Songs Collection", two lovers smooching on a moonlit bench in a park, with song titles scrolling across the bottom. Zoom into their faces, the bushes behind them part and sure enough.. Same weedy cowboy, who then charges through the scene dragging the same guys, horses, supermarket attendants, etc etc etc... Song titles at the bottom change to "Dragging through the dirt" "Runnin' from the law"... I bet the guys who wrote that masterpiece drink Carling Black Label!
