Adverts ADVERTS

Carling Black Label

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

"I bet he drinks Carling Black Label" was the slogan to this 80's advertising campaign for lager.

Didn't CBL also do a spoof on the Old Spice ad, where the two blokes (Stephen Frost and Mark Arden apparently) are in the pub and you can just hear Carmina Burana before a surfer (with a wave) comes in through the door?

I did many of the CBL adverts as the stunt man and stunt coordinator, from surfing to being dropped in a green pool of gunk... and yes there was a rollacoster one. It was done at Margate and I shall not even forget going round that on a wheel chair..... the bogies that held me on (not that it made it any easier a ride) were the idea I used to design the surf board rig, with a sharks fin up through the floor and a universal joint to the surf board ..... I am now directing, and just gone back to those heady years directing Status Quo in the rollacoaster film Bula Quo shot in Fiji ... all the old gags over again...

Does anyone know of a carling tv ad featuring waterski jumping then skiing in to have beers on the beach? I was one of the skiers (1984) and have never seen it.

All these are on youtube, but does anyone know a link to the one where the Brit in the MG Midget lets the air out of his tyres and drives under the French lorry blockade. I'm sure there was a whole series of this with different countires (the bouncing bomb one was just one of them)

Has anybody found anywhere on the internet that shows the Carling add with both the Germans being beaten to the sunloungers (in my opinion the best one) and the Dam Busters. I would love to show them to my 14 year old son who is a military history buff and a Private eye reader! I know I know what a combination. Frankie 8th Nov 2008

Does anyone remember the advert where all these Aussies are in an outback bar and the stranger in town says to the barman: "That's one hell of a spider you've got in the dunny mate!" ?I'm sure it's CBL but can't find it on Youtube.

With reference to the below. No Tony you are not going mad. I was an extra on that advert. It was filmed at Dreamland in Margate. I was looking for it tonight as well and only found your post. The Roller Coaster it was filmed on was the Scenic Railway. 2 days ago someone set fire to it. One of the oldest working wooden roller coasters in the world, very sad! Ok so can someone tell me im not going mad then as Im sure I remember one of the carling adverts being a man in a wheelchair being "pushed" onto a roller coaster ride.I cannot find a single item on it anywhere, are we such a "politically correct" society that we cant mention this one?
