Weekend box (chocolates by Mackintosh)

Weekend box of chocolates and candies. In the centre of the box would be the orange and lemon slices, there would be a chocolate lime one, a nougat one, a praline type thing. They came in a white box with bright colours on it. Made by Mackintosh - just like Quality Street, Highland Toffee bars and Rolo's. The advert went - you can have your own kind of weekend, the chocolates made for two, have a nougat weekend, have a jelly weekend, you can have your own weekend!

I loved these so much that I used to ask for a box instead of an Easter egg. The chocolate lime ones were amazing. Would have been late 70's for me

My first grown up box of chocolates. My dad bought me and my sister one home on our Birthdays as children and we felt dead grown up. Loved the sugary lime one drizzled with dark chocolate :)

My god these were AWFUL. There was a similar thing on the go at the time called Good News. I always seemed to get one or the other for Christmas. Redsa - I posted a memory about Milk Tray bars earlier today, complaining that nobody remembered them! I'm so thrilled to see that you do too!

My cousin used to love Weekend box of chocs, I was never that impressed with them though. I remember Terrys Moonlight chocs though, they were the milk version of Terrys All gold or they might have been half milk selection half dark, anyway they were better than Weekend!

I never cared for these as much as Fry's 5 center bars and can anyone remember when you could get Cadburys Milk tray in a bar, usually out of a vending machine outside shops or on the train station? Also tins of lucky numbers chocolates, not sure who made these.
