Rub-A-Dub Doggy

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

The Rub-a-dub Doggy was a plastic toy dog with soft ears. It was made for the bath and its head moved from side to side. Rub-A-Dub Doggy came out in different colours such as including pink, purple, black, light blue and white. They also came with a soft bone-shaped sponge.

I remember that my Rub-A-Dub Doggy lived in my bathroom for many years!

My sister's Doggy was brown and I remember, he came with a red sponge shaped like a bone! And he had the biggest brown doggy eyes and nose, ever! He was so cute! We used to play with him in the bath, and use his ears to "wash" him. He was a lot of fun!

I had a brown one with a red sponge bone and I still have him :). He came with me when I moved out of home because he was just too precious and looks good in the home. I got him when I was 7 years old for Xmas in 1986. I loved playing with him in the bath.

I had the brown one with the red bone sponge. It was my favorite toy until my mom found out I was washing his ears with her "expensive" Pantene shampoo and made me sell him at a yard sale.

A Rub-A-Dub Doggy was the only thing I wanted for Chrstmas when I was little. I remember, the year I was 7, one night before Christmas, I got up from bed cos I had left a toy in the sitting room. I accedentally found my Mother wrapping one. I was SO HAPPY, but she was SEVERELY ANGRY, and screamed at me for getting up, and at my dad cos I got up. She decided to punish me, cos I ended up never getting a Rub-A-Dub Doggy, and I still feel sad at that memory. She wanted me to believe in Father Christmas, Argh!!!

I had a brown one that I loved. When my parents and I went on a camping trip, my mom only let me take that toy because it couldn't get too dirty, and was waterproof. One night on the trip a tornado came nearby to the camping ground, creating extrmely strong winds. We had to run for the car emergency-style, but I wouldn't stop whining about having left my Rub a dub doggy in the tent. My poor mom gave in and, dispite my dad's protests, retrieved the dog for me. We spent the next day picking up twisted pieces of metal from around the campsite - what used to be our tent. She could have been killed! And now I'm not even sure where the dog is. Either I'm a total brat, or my mom is really selfless, or both. Sigh.

I remember mine. I am still looking for him everywhere. If anyone knows where i can get one I will appreciate it. I need 2 of them....I had the brown one as well. I wish i would have kept these things from when i was a child. That was the only way I would take a bath and now I need one for my kids. It was the best bath toy ever and still is.
