Guns n Roses

Guns 'n' Roses were a product of the LA Trash Metal scene and hit the ground in the UK back in 1987 with some shows at The Marquee in London and made an immediate impact culminating in the release of Appetite for Destruction in August 1987.

It wasn't until 1998 that things started to happen in the US and shortly after that the UK as well. One of the most immediate records of that year was "Sweet Child o' mine" and that summer they were 2nd on the bill for the "Monsters of Rock" festival at Castle Donington.

Some of you may remember this for the tragic death of 2 fans during the crush at the start of their set. Loads more memories but not enough space to put them here. Summary - Kick ass band from LA with attitude.

There was some kind of controversy with them about 20 years ago when they popularised T-shirts with Charles Manson on them, bearing the slogan 'Charlie Don't Surf'. They've always struck me as being pretty arrogant- they refused to play at a British music festival a couple of years ago after falling out with the organisers, didn't seem to care about disappointing their fans....

I saw GnR twice last year & Axl blew me away! He's as amazing now as he was when I saw the original band back in the day. I'll never forget the 1st time I heard Nightrain, I was sucked into the world of ripped jeans and bandanas and stayed that way for years! I still have my original Appetite cassette in my car :-)
