I got a Fresh N' Fancy set for Christmas in 1980 or 1981. It was a make your own make-up and perfume set, complete with eye and lip colour pigments that you mixed together with a white cream substance.
You got pipettes and mixing tools and storage pots, almost like a little lab set and you could even make perfume with concentrated essences mixed with water.
One smelled like Iris (wow i can almost smell it now!) and best of all you could also make your own nail varnish. It was magic, as it would peel off in one go when you got bored with the colour!
I've got a photo of me taken on Christmas morning, having just unwrapped it, holding the box up excitedly for my mum to capture on film. It was my favourite present of that year, and i was caked in the stuff until supplies ran out.
You could send away to get more pigments etc. but I think my mum must have 'mislaid' the form. Oh happy, happy days. I now rely on good old Boots no. 7 and Clinique for make-up as, thankfully, I lost the desire to make my own!
