Alice Cooper

Alice Cooper was/is one of those rock/heavy metal people who started off good, went ace for a while, and ended up being quite rubbish in my opinion.

He was a downright scary-looking man who wore very dark make-up, and sang songs about pain and torture. Our love is a bed of nails. (That was one of his lyrics, not a personal confession or anything.)

By FAR the best album he did was "Hey Stoopid", with such classics as "Love's a Loaded Gun" and "Might as well be on Mars" (with it's VERY catchy and yet totally inaccurate lyrics... "Might as well be on Mars, Looking down at all the cars..." Well Alice, you'd better be using some NASA approved eyeware if you want to see cars on Earth from another planet, my lad.)

Overall, Alice Cooper provided really great Rock music up until about 1990. Then he went bobbins.

I have the original vinyls of Love It To Death (I think) and School's Out(definately). I thought Alice was clever and a great rock artist. My friend used to confuse his name with Gladys Cooper,an old time movie actress.

Alice Cooper is a legend. I first saw him in 1973, the School's Out/ Billion Dollar Babies days. He is still touring. His music still rocks and I still buy whatever he releases. Granted, some is better than others, but on nearly every album there is a tune that gets you.

I first got into Alice Cooper when i accidently found the Love it to Death albumn.I was completly hooked since then,Killer has to be the best rock lp they made, although my favourite AC track is My Stars on the Schools Out disc. After Muscle of Love the band split because they wanted to be taken seriously without the stage act and Alice insisted it was what the band was all about.Alice Cooper himself then went into a spiral of alchol abuse,he even admits that he cant remember making 2 lps in the early 80s,He made a tremendous comeback with Trash but is fading again.Seen him last year in Glasgow and he played only the early stuff which was magnificent.I will always Remember the Coop.

Frankly, Alice Cooper, alongwith Deep Purple and Black Sabbath, invented Heavy Metal. He is the greatest. Trash, Killer, Welcome To My Nightmare, The Last Temptation and Dragontown are his best albums.

Alice Cooper is responsible for inspiring many artists, leading the way with styles long before other bands. From the ToonlistGuy's review above >>Overall, Alice Cooper provided really great Rock music up until about 1990. Then he went bobbins. ToonlistGuy

Alice Cooper achieved notoriety as the original goth-rocker. The major difference between AC and someone like Marilyn Manson is Alice Cooper never took himself seriously. He also backed himself with first rate musicians like Steve Vie. His finest albums were "Billion Dollar Babies" and "Welcome To My Nightmare".
