The Wind in the Willows

Cosgrove Hall (see Dangermouse, Count Duckula etc.) first bought Kenneth Grahame's classic book of riverbank tales to life in a charming BAFTA winning 1983 feature length film, and then placed Ratty, Mole, Toad and Badger (voiced by acting legends like David Jason, Peter Sallis and Sir Michael Hordern) into four series of 20 minute episodes between 1984-1988.

One final series, under the name "Oh! Mr Toad" was broadcast in 1990.

Just watched the original film on DVD. Best adaptation of Grahame's novel by miles, which actually - unlike other filmed versions - was faithful to the book. Rosemary Anne Sisson wrote the screenplay for the film and some of the series episodes that followed. Cosgrove Hall stalwart Brian Trueman wrote other series episodes and also supplied voices, as on Dangermouse, Count Duckula etc. Principal cast was: David Jason - Toad Ian Carmichael (film) Peter Sallis (series) - Ratty Richard Pearson - Mole Sir Michael Hordern - Badger. The film also featured voices from Una Stubbs, Jonathan Cecil and Beryl Reid, amongst others.
