The Tekneeks

Cannot remember year but managed a group known as The Tekneeks. We took part in Opportunity Knocks at the Didsbury studios. Did not win that night but when we did next gig at The Swan Hotel at Walton on Thames we were approached by Tom Jones's manager and a singer, Jerry Dorsey. The group was asked to do a session on Eel Pie island at Kingston on Thames on a Saturday morning. Jerry Dorsey practised for some hours with a song that was to become his signature tune 'Please release me let me go'. Following on from this the group went to West Germany where Jerry Dorsey became Englebert Humperdinck thus changing his life and that of the group. on their return from Germany the group decided they wanted 'bigger' things and we parted company. Have never heard from any member since that time but know that fractures began to split the group, with one member wanting to get married and another ey going off to become a member of an American pop group. Last I heard was that that they had disbanded. Such a waste of good talent. If anyone remembers them, (my recall may not be accurate) I would like to hear from them. Now in my 81st year and still retain fond memories of The Blue Moon Club in Guildford , playing every Saturday night and doing parties and weddings.
