The Herbs

The Herbs was a childrens' animated character show from the early 70s featuring none other than Parsley the Lion.

There were a whole host of other characters with herby names like Dill the Dog, Tarragon the Dragon, Mr Bayleaf the Gardener, Aunt Mint and Sage the Owl.

Parsley the Lion eventually got his own spin-off series The Adventures of Parsley.

The Herbs and The Adventures of Parsley were created by Michael Bond who also created Paddington.

"I'm Dill the dog, I'm a dog called Dill" his song says it all.

I loved the Herbs. Some of the characters had their own songs - Parsley's began "I'm a very friendly lion called Parsley." And Tarragon's song was "I'm Tarragon the Dragon, I'd better make it clear, That nothing's safe when I'm around" (breathes fire) "Things seem to disappear".
