Nesquick

This was made by Nestle and was like a milkshake.

My parents bought it very occasionally, but it was a real treat when they did buy it. It was quite sweet, and came in a few different flavours - Strawberry, Vanilla and Chocolate.

Nesquick was the powder that you put into milk to make it flavoured like a milkshake. It pretty much tasted like flavoured milk but was great.

I think you can still buy it some places, and they even made it into a cereal as well!

I have two cartons of this in my kitchen cupboard right now. I use a spoonful on cereal instead of sugar, and I sometimes mix the chocolate one with margerine to make a chocolate spread.

As a small boy n the 60s, whenever we went on holiday (usually to a seaside caravan) my parents would buy a tin of Nesquik as a treat. Every evening after returning from an evening out I would have a Nesquik made with warm milk before going to bed. I can still taste it now in my memory, and also the smell of the calor gas lamps of the caravans.

Banana Nesquik was always my favourite - The chocolate one didn't mix in very well. And it's widely available in most supermarkets.

Yes, it is still quite widely available, and is sold in Waitrose as well as other supermarkets. I remember the early Mr.Mix tins, he was dressed like a milkman in a white coat and black cap.

Does anyone remember the other flavours from the '70's? I'm sure there was raspberry, blackcurrant & mint (yes, mint!). There may have been more. Instead of today's plastic box with a rabbit character, in those days it came in a tin & had a little character called Mr Mix on the box.
