Jackpot

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Jackpot was a comic that was derived from Cor! (I believe) with great characters such as "The Incredible Sulk", "Full 'o' Beans", "Teeny Sweeney" and so forth. It didn't last for long but I do remember getting the first issue which came with a joke squirting ring thing.

I remember Jackpot very well. In fact I still have almost all 141 issues from April 1979 (18 missing in fact) before it merged with Buster in January 1982. An absolute classic comic that stood out from the others at the time. Superb competitions and free gifts aside, the stories seemed fresh and inventive particularly the weekly action stories usually based on spotting clues such as the perils of Pauline and not to mention the terrifying Terror Toys. Favourites for me were Laser Eraser, The Amazing Three, Gremlins, and The Incredible Sulk... There were too many superb strips to mention. Sad that it only lasted a short while...
