Golden Wonder Crisps

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

I used to love Golden Wonder crisps... cheese and onion were my favourite but I especially remember the 'Bang goes a million' promotion where if you found a little packet in your crisps and it banged when you opened it you won a million pounds!

I remember when Golden Wonder crisps first came out - they sold for 3d, Smiths were selling for 4d. I loved the Cheese & Onion flavour.

I worked for Golden Wonder as a Sales Rep for two years 1966 - 1968 Great job. they were riding on the crest of a wave at that time I went to a meeting in Manchester one night where they launced Roast Chicken flavor. I ate 6 packets on the 30 mile journey Home and was as sick as a Dog. Trouble was I had to start selling them the day after. Very happy days for me at GW. I used to get a 2000 case order every Friday morning at a Cash & Carry only 1/2 Mile from where I live. Apart from Walkers, I still think they were the best Crisps ever, what went wrong I wonder? If any ex Sales Reps read this, my name is John Newton and I live in Huddersfield

You didn't imagine this, Pat - They were called 'Flavour N' Shake', and they were around in the mid eighties or thereabouts. I can't recall what flavours were in the range, though!

Dose anyone remember multi packs of plane crisps that came with a verity of flavour sachets ( bit like salt & shake) that you could add as much as you like or mix the different flavors. I think that didn't last long. I don't think I imagined this.

...And you can't mention Golden Wonder without mentioning their all-time classic flavour - Sausage and Tomato!

Hi Sarah, My Favourite Golden Wonder Crisps were, & still are, Salt & Vinegar Flavour. I particularly remember the "Bang goes a million" campaign, as that was the 1st time Golden Wonder Crisps were sold in Foil packs, They were absolutely gorgeous!!!
