Burton's Potato Puffs

Potato Puffs were a sort of crisp manufactured by Burton Biscuits. The came in varieties of Ready Salted, Cheese and Onion and Salt and Vinegar. I'm sure that they have gone out of production now but who knows... if enough people remember them and still want them, there could be a Potato Puff revival! You have missed out the best one of all, tomato sauce flavour. Great taste and red fingers lol, ate them every day from 1959 to 1963.

I adore Potato Puffs!!! I e-mailed Burtons a few years back and a very nice lady got back to me saying the machinery used to produce the little delights had basically reached the end of it's working life and it wasn't considered financially viable to replace it. We need a national petition to persuade Burtons to bring them back!! Seem to remember Tomato Sauce flavour and cheese and bean too.

Hi, I still long for these, (started out as Walters potato puffs I believe) as Linda says, open wide and just tip them in. I did find a box about 5 or 6 years ago, I think I did them in a dinner break. If you see them try Crimbles cheese bites, triangular pillow shape but are similar to the puffs. Bob

Ohhhh, how I loved 'potato puffs'. I used to take a packet to school for my break in the fifties.......they were in a red packet and cost 3 old pence and you got loads in the packet - they did bring them back again for a while but they were never the same!!

When I worked in Burton's Edinburgh factory back in 2000/2001 they were still making puffs, as one of my jobs involved me packing multipacks (which were like balloons!) into boxes.

These were delicious and were sold in the school tuck shop way back in the early 60's. Still get the balloon effect now and then with ordinary crisps.
