Big Blue Marble

This was a show that came on very early Saturdays, around 6 am. It was a childrens show that dealt with what we today would call diversity. I remember that every sketch was done twice, once in English, once in Spanish. It was all shuffled around, so it wasn't a sketch repeating itself in another language, or an English 15 minutes, then a Spanish 15.

i remember watching the show back in 1974. Anyone remember the skits that aired between segments? There was one skit i remember and i wanted to be the kid in when i saw it. i wanted to be the boy in the bowling skit when i saw it. In the skit, a boy gets taken over the line when he goes to throw his ball down the lane and is taken to the pins for a strike. After the strike, he awaits getting pushed in with the pins he knocked down. Anyone remember watching some of the skits?

I got a pen pal from The Big Blue Marble in 1976 when I was 11 years old. I am now 47 years old and my pen pal and I still write! We are the best of friends! I traveled to India to meet her in person, and she has traveled to the USA to meet me! She is one of my very best friends! Thank you Big Blue Marble!

I even got two pen friends from the show their names were Mildretta Petterson and Cheryl Mahoy both from America; I lost both their addresses and we lost contact... I wonder what happened to them.. I only hope they decide to get onto this site to read this so we can pick up from where we left off. my name is Kellie

The right lyrics were easy to find, here they are: The earth’s a Big Blue Marble when you see it from out there. The sun and moon declare our beauty’s very rare. Folks are folks and kids are kids we share a common name. We speak a different way but work and play the same. We sing pretty much alike, enjoy Spring pretty much alike; Peace and love we all understand and laughter, we use the very same brand. Our differences, our problems from out there there’s not much trace Our friendships they can place while looking at the face of the Big Blue Marble in space. (keep singing guys!) :-)
