Alphaville

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Alphaville were a kind of a-ha type band who had a number one hit with 'Big in Japan' in the late 80's and another hit with 'Forever Young'. They were from Germany I think.

True, but she IS correct in saying that they were German. They got their name from a 1965 Jean-Luc Goddard sci-fi film, which was one of a series to feature government hit-man 'Lemmy Caution' (France's answer to Dick Tracey). I've still got it on VHS video- worth watching if you ever get the chance.

I don't know which country Sharon is from but this information is incorrect when it pertains to the UK. 'Big in Japan' was a top ten hit in 1984 and 'Forever Young' was feted to be their next hit but never charted.
