Abba

Abba were the Swedish pop group that rose to worldwide fame following their win in the Eurovision Song Contest. The group comprised Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus, Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad and they used their combined initials to create the name ABBA.

ABBA won the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest with "Waterloo" and before long the song was number one in the charts all over Europe.

The group split up in 1982 but since then the compilation CD ABBA Gold has gone on to sell over 25 million copies around the world.

I have a signed Album of Abba, signed to me with all their names. My brother had written a song for them, and we went to a London Hotel where my brother went in to see them and took my newly bought album in for them to sign. I then returned to Canada, very happy

I can recommend Abba - the film. Worth seeing! Good story, great actors, wonderful setting and sung about the best I heard for ages.

My first childhood band. They were wonderful... still are!! Fond memories of playing the records on my silly record player with speaker built in.. My record player sat underneath the window... and oops... I regularly warped my records with the sun!! It was fun though watching them go up and down as they went round!!

Love ABBA! Some of the best memories of my childhood were rollerskating listening to Dancing Queen, SOS, Mamma Mia among others! I never get tired of listening to it!

As an 80s teenager it became unfashionable to like Abba - but, as do my parents, I never tire of their stuff ( despite breaking my leg dancing at my brother's wedding to Waterloo !).

My parents played a lot of their music when I was growing up so I got to hear pretty much all their mainstream stuff as well as some rare tunes. They have told me numerous times that I use to dance to "Dancing Queen" in my highchair. I'm actually quite fond of some of their tunes including "Gimme Gimme Gimme a Man After Midnight".
