A Nintendo Game Boy game was released called 'Tony Hawk's Pro Skater'- I have a copy, it looks fun but I can't play it too well as I don't have the instruction manual for it.

the board the editor is talking about was, i think, the hawk claw design or the one with all the aztec circles on it? i'm not sure, it's a long time ago, but i think that was it.

I think you'll find that it was Mike McGill who invented the Mctwist. McGill and Hawk skated for the same team, Powell Peralta, during the 80's. His early graphic was (originally enough) a hawk, then a hawk's skull.
