Micronauts

Does anyone remember the Micronaut collection?

It was back in the days when they trusted us not to choke on small parts. The whole collection included motorized parts, weapons (that shot out tiny missiles) and action figures that sat in the cockpit of whatever ship you built.

The parts were interchangable, so you could create motorized designs of your own.

They were fun!

    I had quite a few of the micronaughts figures and vehicles, my favourite being the remote control (attached by cable!!!!) battle cruiser which I got one christmas in the late 70's. I also remember the robot with the spinning wheels for arms....ahhh the good old days.

    A friend (thanks Craig) gave me some of his old collection as a kid, including the Lab, photon sled and Alphatron. I already had Baron Karza and Microtron. I always hankered after the Astro Station. I had a Spiderman version of the Solarion though, which was odd and a big Hornet type vehicle which must have been a knock off.

    I got the Micronauts roving laboratory for Christmas when I was about eight. I was instantly captivated by the modular, multipurpose, multi-fit pieces. Within a few years I had a substantial collection that I never tired of. I even had the Rocket Tubes! I also collected every single one of the "Invaders" series. When we moved across North America, I recall packing them all into a box for their long journey. I suppose they must have survived it. But somewhere along the way I guess I grew too mature for plastic action figures. I don't recall where they went. A couple of years ago my mother told me that she thought there was still a box of them in our basement. It was enough to start me looking for them, but no soap. I rather wish I'd kept them for my own kids, but who says they'd have enjoyed them, eh? Still, then I'd have an excuse to play with 'em :-}
