Leg warmers

Leg warmers were worn by dancers (to keep their legs warm I guess) until the 1980's when some trendsetter decided to take them to the streets, probably inspired by the dancing films of the time (Dirty Dancing, Fame, Flash Dance etc).

Anyway, it was a popular but short-lived fashion (thankfully) and by 1985 they were consigned to the dance studios once more.

I was the proud owner of some groovy pairs of legwarmers! We used to try and out-do each other with the most fluorescent and brightly coloured, although the deputy headmistress of our school did not approve! We didn't care, we still wore them anyway!! Ha! Ha!

Leg warmers! wow how I remember having these in every single colour you could get! After watching fame it was a must have! We used to pretend we were the kids from fame, except serveral pairs of 'two' left feet did us no justice, but we thought we were 'cool' anyway!

The fashion era of leg-warmers had two stages. The first was to wear the leg-warmers at full stretch, right up your legs and the second was to push them down with very even "wrinkles". During the second stage my mum was convinced that we would make sure that the wrinkles were counted just to make sure that they were even.
