Lame Ducks

I remember that I loved 'Lame Ducks' but yet remember so little about it. Nobody I know remembers it. The only things I remember are that they had an old fashioned Cadbury's vending machine on the wall (the one that you put your money in and turned the appropriate knob until chocolate came out) and that the couple or family grew their own vegetables.

I actually went to be in the studio audience of an episode of this show to provide the laughter. It was in short supply as the comedy was rather lame!

David Essex wasn't in Lame Ducks. It was John Duttine as Brian Drake (a pun, geddit?) who wakes up in hospital and finds that his wife is divorcing him. He takes half of the money from the sale of his house and sets off to become a hermit. He meets Angie (Lorraine Chase) a young woman drifter, a strange postman walking around the world on a ball, and other odd characters. Brian's ex-wife hires a private detective Mr Ansell (played by Brian Murphy, ex of George and Mildred) to follow him, buit he doesn't like his work and joins the community. I believe that there were two series in the mid eighties.

It was 70's actress Lorraine Chase who has more recently starred in Emmerdale
