Candy Land

Actually introduced in 1949, Candy Land was a Milton Bradley game that turned into a bestseller in every decade since. The game was invented by Eleanor Abbott from San Diego, California whilst she was recovering from Polio. She created the game in an attempt to create a diversion that would entertain children also suffering from the disease.

The idea of the game was to be the first to get your Gingerbread character to Candy Castle without getting lost in Lollipop Woods, stuck in Molasses Swamp or trapped on Gooey Gumdrops.

If you landed on the right space you take one of the two shortcuts, The Gumdrop Pass or The Rainbow Trail.

Candy Land is a classic children's fantasy board game that has sold well over 40 million packages!

My nieghbour had this game, and every afternoon after a morning of Kindergarten I would go to his house. I remember it being way up high in his bedroom closet, but sometimes we would make the effort to reach it and play. I'm not sure why it was so much fun at the time, must have been the bright colours and CANDY!
