Aztec Chocolate Bar

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

The Aztec Chocolate Bar was very similar to the Mars Bar and was made by Cadbury in the 1970s. There used to be about a five minute advert for them at the cinema. They were quite scrummy and half a penny cheaper than Mars Bars. Where did they go?

I remember buying these from the cafe shop in Horton in Ribblesdale. I was starting to think I'd imagined them. Nobody I've spoken to remembers them.

Thought I was the only one that did; when mentioning these and the tv advert people thought I was nuts...however they brought them back as a limited release called Aztec 2000. For some unknown reason they didn't sell to well (at my local store) and I ended up buying what stock they had.

The original was brilliant; better than a Mars Bar in my view although didn't have the double chocolate coating (hence 'thick thick chocolate' in a Mars Bar, the outer layer often separating when you cut them straight from the freezer). The re-issue in 2000 was a horrible version which paled by comparison to the original 70s one and had a white, over sweet foam product under the caramel.

Nobody in my family can remember them either. Same as Rondello biscuits. I remember the advert for those.
