Clare Grogan - oh, what a babe she was. She was my first serious pop-babe crush and when you get a crush at 13, boy do you get a crush! I bought Pinky Blue in 1982 instead of buying my mum her birthday present! I got their first album Happy Birthday for my 13th birthday in June 1982. Then they went all sophisticated with Bite in 1983. I was into the Beatles by then but still had plenty of time to listen to Clare and dream that one day we would meet! Yes, I had the posters, I bought the picture discs and the singles that came in picture bags (a 45 wrapped in a poster - remember them?). And I had the dreams. I even had an Altered Images T shirt, my first pop T shirt infact! I might be 35 this year but I am not ashamed to admit that when it comes to anything Clare Grogan, I've still got a bit of a soft spot and memories of school dinners at 25p a day, school uniform and kissing one of the many posters in my bedroom come flooding back! 'I would like to climb high in the trees...,'.
