Alias the Jester

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

One of the lesser known cartoons from the Cosgrove Hall stable (makers of, among other things, Danger Mouse). Alias featured an alien who ended up shipwrecked in medieval England, playing court jester to a barmy king. My personal favourites: Geordie vikings who, whenever frustrated, used to exclaim 'Newcastle United!'

I recently got hold of the complete series on dvd from HMV for 2 quid!! What a bargain to relieve memories of a sadly forgotten series.

It might be a regional thing, but it never failed to make me laugh as the main bad guy was called 'The Black Nadger' and nadgers or 'nads' were the things a boy protects most...

As a child of the late 80's/early 90's I remember Alias being on all the time when I was a kid. (how could there be only 13 episodes?) I was addicted to this show and years later, it was the first cartoon that I looked up online when the first waves of childhood nostalgia washed over me. Good memories include: singing along to the theme, getting carpet-burn on my knees as I threw myself in front of the telly when it came on, spinning my 3-year-old self around in an attempt to understand how Alias changes costumes so fast, never figuring out why Dickie Brier's voice was so familiar when he did Roobarb and Custard, cute books/comics. :-)

Alias the Jester was nothing short of brilliant. The conversations were witty and holding it all together with every episode ending with Alias being fired by the king. I miss my old VHS ^
