Snap It Beads (Pop Beads)

Snap It Beads, or Pop Beads as they are also known, were snap together beads for making your own 'jewellery'. They came in increasingly fancy variations starting off with just plain neon-colored round beads you could snap together and moved on to pearly pastels and star-shaped beads.

My friends and I used to see how long we could make our pop-bead chains, sometimes stringing it from one room to the next! We also made 'jewellery' from it, jump ropes that would not stay together very long, and whatever else our imaginations could come up with!

These were great. We pretended to be princesses and made ridiculously long and colorful necklaces to wear to the ball.

I use to get a big bag of them. I had 2 sets a pastel set and a neon set. I use to make a really big strand and wrap it around my neck like 3 times

I remember my great grandmother had these beads in a bowl and whenever I'd find them, I would just HAVE to make necklaces, bracelets, and rings.

I had several pop beads. I would often try to make my strands as long as possible----that would be the joy.
