The World of Suzie Wong was a movie from 1960 which was a great story written by a Manchester author and set in 1950's Hong Kong.
I retraced many of the steps when visiting Hong Kong from where I was living in Taiwan.
It was refreshing because though it dealt with a 'women of the world' theme, it did it with taste - no profanity, and no obvious sexual scenes.
