One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975)

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was a fab film based on the book by Ken Kelsey. The film starred Jack Nicholson as a convict pretending to be mad to avoid a prison sentence, and followed the way of life in a mental hospital.

This film was both funny and poignant and featured characters like the 'chief', who pretends to be deaf and dumb to beat the system, and the delightful nurse Ratched who was a cross between an american Margaret Thatcher and Joan Collins.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was more an amusing and sentimental slice of life than a story with a beginning middle and end.
