Bertha

This was one of those Postman Pat type animated cartoons, where it's actually models walking around the screen.

It was about a machine, called Bertha, that could make absolutely loads of different things.

The theme tune went something like....... ahem...... "Bertha, lovely Bertha, some times I think you're a deeeeeaaaam....."

Personally, in a fight between Bertha and Chokablok, I don't think Bertha would have stood much of a chance. Call me picky if you like, but a machine that can supposedly make anything is bound to break down far more often than one that has Derek Griffiths calming hand guiding it.

After Bertha, they went on to make Charlie Chalk. Good plan.

Just re-discovered this show. Did they make toys from it? I would like to get hold of a TOM toy. Any ideas? Keely (Roath@talk21.com)

I loved this show. It was staple viewing for me as a kid, there was also a little robot called Tom who used to go around bumping into things a lot. I forget his name but there was a Sikh forklift truck driver too.
