Cresta Drink

"It's frothy man!" So the ad said. Cresta was the orange flavoured, probably the sweetest most plastic-tasting drink you can imagine but as a 7 year old being dragged round Clacton market, it was probably the best taste in the world. Cresta was opaque and thick and frothy - God only knows what was in it!

Pineapple was my favourite, followed by blackcurrant and then lime. The strawberry one was ok. Orange was yuk. Cream soda one not even worth remembering, lol

Cresta lemonade isn't the real thing - even if it is made by Coke! Real Cresta from back in the seventies was thicker than normal pops, a super day-glo colur and so full of additives that you glowed in the dark! Fabulous stuff, how I miss it ...

I remember cresta lemon or lime. use to get it at the chippy. Use to make you feel wired, a bit like the milk in clockwork orange, hey! maybe that was one of their flavors to. Yes two bottles of Cresta, and the phone box gets it!.

Cresta was wierd really, those disgusting lurid colours and being frothy rather than fizzy. I can't imagine what they used to put in it.

The reason I'm on this site is that I searched for "Cresta" on the web... Why??? Because last night... I poured some Tesco's own brand - Orange flavour high juice into a glass to dilute with white lemonade! Nice!... However... I got it mixed up with the Cream Soda... And hey presto! I was sent back to the 70's in a flash! haha... THATS how they made Cresta!!! Have a go... Its true!! hahaha Tom Liverpool

"Baby I will be your ever lovin' man/Give me the drink I really love, a bottle or a can/Bukk-Bukk-Bukk-Bukk/It's frothy,man!/I don't want to drink no ocean/Cuz man that's really rough/But when it comes to Cresta/Here's one bear who just can't get enough/It's frothy, man..." Funny what sticks in your mind, isn't it?

I LOVED this drink. Me and my brother, Malc, would sit in the back of grandad's mini car while Nan did her shopping in Budgen's. To keep us quiet we had a PINK Cresta, a Curly Wurly or a packet of Quavers. They were the good ol' days! I don't remember what flavour the Pink Cresta was but it was my favourite. Cresta sell lemonade in my local shop still. The Cream Soda was a favourite too!

They still make Cresta. It is the cheapest product made by Coca-Cola. I quite like the Lemonade.

I remember drinking this on holiday on the Isle of Wight. In 1973. (I bet you can still get it there)! Did you know that Salman Rushdie was the man that came up with the advertising slogan 'Its frothy man'!

Hey! Cherry flavour cresta was the best, bought from the pop van that used to come round our way on a friday night. It would give you a red mustache for weeks, or as i later found out, that if drank really carefully, would make fab pretend red lipstick. You'd get twopence back on the bottle, and a clip round the ear from dad if it got broke!!! A kid could divorce it's parent for that kind of behaviour nowdays! LOL

And it contained loads of E numbers, which have the added bonus of allowing people to blame their kids behaviour on the additives rather than on their own poor parenting skills. Genius! In reality: no more unhealthy than any other fizzy drink. And it actually tasted pretty good, although the fashion is to say it tasted awful, because anything that originated in the 1970s must be rubbish. In 30 years time, anything made in 2006 will be thought of as rubbish. Except by me, because I think of it as rubbish now.
