Little House On The Prairie

A classic show based on the real life of a girl and her family in the "Prairie days". The family comprised Laura Ingles, her parents and 2 sisters. They later adopted a boy called Albert and the Mum had another daughter in later episodes.

The show followed Laura growing-up, becoming a teacher, marrying and finally becoming a mother herself. She and her family faced many tragic situations and there was always a moral message in the shows.

I loved The Little House on the Prairie. I wathced it faithfully and nothing could tear me away from the television when it was on. I have since bought some Little House DVDs to watch and still find it really good not just for the memories of Laura and co but also people like Mrs Olsen were funny and Mr Edwards too. This show was so mind-numbingly dull it made repeatedly slamming your head in the fridge door seem appealing. I think Melissa Gilbert does infomercials now. Sad.

It was a bit American Apple-pieish alright, and too many girls in it for the liking of a pre-10yr.old boy back then ! What became of the girls who played them ? Michael Landon has sadly passed on since.

I dont think anyone enjoyed Little House on the Prairie but at the time it was better then the farming programmes available on a Sunday afternoon! (or was that just me in Hull?) Also have you ever tried to hum the theme tune of Little House on the Prairie without slipping into The Waltons?

I absolutely loathed this show. So much that I refused to read the books that it was based on until a few years ago, when I discovered they bore little resemblance to the tv show, and are a wonderful picture of pioneer life.
