2 Unlimited

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

This band started in 1991 with their first single "Get Ready For This", a very cheesy techno song. Another hit single was "No Limit".

Thinking back, it was a terrible song but I loved it when I was a tender 11 year old - only we sang #No,no, no, no.... there's no lyrics!#

My first exposure to "techno" - also at the precocious age of 11. Watching the video for 'Get Ready for This' on Rage first thing in the morning on a Saturday almost fried my brains. It was just too much! I think I quickly went back to my usual TV cartoons soon after that!

Th thing is, when they started out, they weren't the boy/girl act that they turned out to be with their later releases, when they had the image that everybody came to associate with the name '2 Unlimited'. The first single, 'Get Ready For This', was actually a favourite in the more "specialist" venues, which played a lot of the so-called "rave" tracks which were such a large part of the early-nineties dance music scene(I first heard this record in such a place, when it was only available as a Belgian import), and had things remained that way, they most probably wouldn't have mutated into the dreadfully cheesy pop act we all knew and loved/loathed. Success, sometimes, can be the kiss of death, and we've long since seen 2 Unlimited's hits dry up when the novelty had worn thin.

2 untalented as they became known. So we have 11 year olds to blame for buying their records?

I remember watching them try to sing live on a TV program and the female singer messing up very badly. They weren't very good live
