    I think Wacaday was on Saturday mornings and was hyperactive, very annoying to parents, but great fun for kids. Even years later, if you said the cathcphrase, people knew what it meant. I remember having a mock fight with a friend with us hitting each other with a cushions and shouting "whackaday!" Heatlh and safety has got so restricting, that I think this show wouldn't be allowed to hit anyone with even the softest of foam mallets!

    Yeah, he used to present Wacaday with Michaela Strachan back in the lae '80s. 'Mallet's Mallet' was a competition he used to run during the show, where children who came on had to answer questions within a short space of time, otherwise they'd get blipped with 'Pinky Punky' (the mallet was only made of foam, and it was just a gentle tap, so there were never any injuries!) Unfortunately, Timmy never went on to achieve the success that Michaela Strachan did- he went on to appear in a comedy TV advert for throat pastilles and did a cover version of the old '60s clssic 'Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini' with his band Bombalurina, as well as producing a few other records. He was also a friend of DJ Steve Wright. But he found it difficult to adapt from his children's TV persona, despite being an excellent and versatile television & radio presenter as well as an accomplished music producer. Few people know that he was very brave in rescuing a child from drowning. At the time that Wacaday was still on TV, he was on holiday somewhere on the coast when he spotted a kiddie in difficulties who'd been swept out to sea in a strong undercurrent. Risking his own safety, Timmy immediately dashed into the sea and swam to the boy's rescue- he later on revealed to the media that he had worked as a lifeguard when he was a student!
