Quirks Chocolate

Does anyone else remember Quirks chocolate? They were similar to Smarties but in a little brown box and instead of being colourful and shiny like Smarties, they were in pale pastel colours and had a matt finish to the sugar shell, and they had chocolate inside. I remember buying Quirks from a vending machine within a building in Portsmouth Naval Base in the mid-1980s - only time I ever saw them.  I think they cost 20p pack then.  There was a second machine alongside which sold 5-fingered Kit Kats - also 20p each, and I believe sold only in vending machines, as the more usual 4-fingered version cost 17.5p in the shops at that time.  Sweet memories and good value!

I remember the TV commercial - They were described as the "back to front" mint, and the ad ended with the line "try some - yesterday!".

I have a strong memory of standing outside a sweet shop as a child in Heaton Moor next to the Savoy cinema eating quirks. I stood still and ate the whole box in one go. No one i know has ever heard of them and untill now i have been worried that i made up the whole expirience! Please let me know if you find anywhere to buy them. x

I remember them! I loved them - they were mint flavoured, if I recall correctly...
