Mods

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Mod was the cult that hit our school around 1980ish? I think the film Quadrophenia kicked it off because after that came out we all wanted to be seen wearing smart clothes and looking as trendy as possible. After a couple of years most of us had progressed to wearing Pringles instead of Ben Shermans as "casual" became the way to go....

I was a proud female mod of the 80's only one in my school. I took a few years or ridicule and a hard paper round but I eventually got the Vespa at 16 and thought I was fantastic. It is amazing how my friends always insist they have always been a Paul Weller fans but I know thw truth. Gill Middlesbrough

my old man used to travel down to Saaarfend in the 60s when he was a rocker to "beat up the skinny mods". The 80s mods were slightly different in their dress apparently. I blame Paul Weller.

The Mods & the Rockers hated each other but both hated the ones who couldn't afford to be either - like me ! Musically, the Mods & Skas' stuff was the catchier.

I remember I was too young in the eighties to become a MOD. My brother was one and remember the fun he used to have. A few years back I bought Quadrophenia and watched it about 5 times. I would love to be involved in that scene now.Very cool.Hope theres a bit of a comeback soon.
