Midnight Mint Choc Ice

Tell me I'm not crazy but does anyone else in Scotland, England, Ireland or Wales remember a Choc Ice called something like 'Midnight Mint' from the 1970's? Funnily enough it was mint flavoured, possibly with a plain chocolate coating and it came in a dark wrapper with an owl on the front.

No you are not crazy. I worked at Walls before 1970 and we made Midnight Mint Choc Ices exactly as you describe. One of my favourite ices. I wish that they would revive it. Fond memories from Charlieboy.

Ahhh if only we could just have a day in the past eh. I would be sitting there as a child again savouring every mouthful of this choc ice, it was soooo nice. Then I'd go buy a milk tray bar and a Trophy and and a frys five centre chocolate bar. My little day in heaven :o)

In Australia, the Midnight Mint was a layer of choc, over choc crumb, inside: vanilla ice cream with a pale green mint ice cream centre They were amazing!

These were gorgous!Every year we holidayed in Clacton,Essex, and every day, down by the beach, a bloke would walk along the prom pushing a trolley full of ice lollies etc. "Waaaallls Ices" he'd shout. I'd always have a Midnight Mint, partly because they looked a bit bigger than the other choc ices.

Yes I remember Midnight Mint choc ices, the icecream was white and they were just so nice. Don't think anything has come close to them.

They were the apex of sophistication when I was 7! The owl packaging was brilliant. was it advertised on TV as well?

My mum used to eat these - she said they were 'grown-up' ice cream. Lovely white minty middle, dark chocolate outside, and the owl on the wrapper! We had to make do with 'Funny Faces'.
