Merry Maid chocolate caramels

Made by Jamesons (who also made Raspberry Ruffles) and had a wrapper with a picture of an archetypal smiling country lass; that illustration was unforgettable!

They were essentiall Milk Chocolate Caramels - chewy toffee with a chocolate coating. They are stil availabel but have changed their name. They are the same sweet - but with a different name. Odd!!! Now the boffins at Jamesons call them Milk Chocolate Caramels. so despite the new name and new wrapper the same old flavour remains!

Jamesons factory was taken over & closed down by Cadburys in 1992. I worked there & some of the chocs are/were still being made under the Jamesons label by Cadburys who are the ones who have alled the shots with the name etc.

Yes, i remember Merry Maids. My mum used to buy them for us sometimes, in the 60's. Jamesons also made an assortment called Gaiety! I liked these cos they were cheaper than Quality Street. Anyone remember another toffee - Hussicks??
