Jackie Magazine

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Jackie Magazine was a girls' weekly magazine published by D.C. Thomson in the UK between 1964 and 1993. The popularity of the magazine was in no small part due to the somewhat controversial problem page called "Cathy and Claire".

The very first editor of Jackie was Gordon Small and TV critic Nina Myskow was also an editor at one point.

I'm trying to track down a copy from about 1984, I think. I was in one of the 'photo love stories'. The plot loosely revolved around a love triangle featuring me and my 'girlfriend' and a pal who stole her from me because he drove a sports car.

Do you know roughly when it was? Was it the interviews on the street feature? I have a lot of old Jackie mags and I’ve got a few from 70, 71, 72 - I could have a look for you.

And what about the posters which came in sections, a piece each week. I remember having a poster of Marc Bolan in a pale green satin jacket, on my bedroom wall, collected over several weeks .

I remember this so well. I had collected most of the sections but was missing a shoulder and a bit of his leg. I would love to see one of those posters now.

Does anyone remember buying silver handmade rings from an offer in Jackie magazine, sometime in the 60s?

Does anybody have the knitting pattern for a waistcoat that was in one of the editions of Jackie? I still have mine and would love to make another one.

I loved this magazine and it taught me so much about being a teenage girl and then the development to womanhood! Fashon, boys, womens issues were all covered and a generation of us girls should be grateful for the help and support this girls magazine gave us!thanks Jackie Love Annabel Louise

I loved this mag - my mum used to buy it for me every week in the late 1960's. Loved all the fashion, makeup & problem pages, oh and of course all the posters.

I loved this magazine and had a regular order delivered every week! I couldn't wait for the morning it was due to arrive, so I could read it on the bus to school. I hasten to add this was in the early 70's and still have fond memories of Jackie. As a young teen, I learnt much from the problem page 'Dear Cathy and Claire' and fell in love numerous times reading the stories, and with all the wonderful posters that landed on my wall. Am still a romantic today - thanks to Jackie!
