Compact Discs

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Ahhh yes... Even if you scratched them they still played. Tomorrow's World must have had a magical one!

Yes, they didn't quite turn out be the indestructable little beasts that Tomorrow's World had us believe. I've had CDs that would skip and jump with the merest hint of a fingerprint on them, and a few that wouldn't play at all in one of my machines! We never had these problems with good old vinyl, did we?

I remember reading accounts of how you could smear them with jam and drill holes in them, and they'd still play perfectly! Only later did I realise that simlpy looking at them in the wrong way would cause them to stick and skip. Far less durable than vinyl I'd say, as long as you look after the latter properly, that is.

I remember seeing one on 'Pebble Mill at One' and them telling us we'd all have them soon ... I couldnt wait ... like I couldnt wait for the year 2000 and be able to holiday on the moon!
