Spokey Dokeys
Spokey Dokeys :
Coloured plastic balls that you fitted to the spokes of your bike so that when you rode around slowly they would clatter up and down noisily and when you rode fast the centrifugal force would push them all out to the wheel rim and they would just look like a coloured blur.
I'm not sure who first had the idea for these but Spokey Dokeys were made even more popular when they were given away free inside boxes of breakfast cereal.

The original fiendishly difficult puzzle,
now with solution guide
The original fiendishly difficult puzzle, invented by Erno Rubik in Hungary and one of the biggest toy crazes ever. In 1982 Hawkin's Bazaar was the first to bring a few cases of the Rubik's Cube to England. Unfortunately 25 years ago we were very small and it wasn't long before a much larger company had the exclusive rights to distribute in the UK. We are very pleased to be offering it again! And now includes a new seven step solution guide.

About Hawkin's Bazaar
Hawkin's Bazaar has been providing you with unusual gifts, toys and gadgets since 1973. Originally a local toy shop at the Hawk Inn (hence the name), Hawkin's Bazaar now sells things you thought had gone forever and things you never even knew existed. They bring you Pin Art, Morph, Rubik's Cube, Big Trak, Space Hoppers and much more.
Also remembered...

The younger brother of the Chopper, the Grifter was the cool bike of the 80's. Like the Chopper, the Grifter was a chunky, heavy, cumbersome bike that felt more like a motorbike than a bicycle.
The most innovative thing about the Grifter was the gear shift which was incorporated in to the handle grips and was controlled with a twisting motion.

I remember my first spokey dokey, I was so pleased when I got it but I really wanted a pink one. Although I'm now 25, I'd still like to find a pink one and put it on my current bike to re-live my youth! Does anyone know where I can get them from nowadays?

Spokey Dokeys were great, I was one of the first of my friends to get one on my bike & everybody was jealous though they soon caught up. They were a guaranteed way to be popular!

I had spokey dokeys on my bike that were given to me from my mom and I loved them so much that as I got older and bigger, therefore got bigger bikes, I would take them off my old bike and onto my new one.

I had them on my pick and white bike in an assortment of colours. I remember they made lots of noise when I would ride slowly, but being on my bike I couldn't really see the colourful blur.

My mother always said that Spokey Dokeys were a waste of money so I had to make do with the plastic tags from loafs of bread, I can still hear the other kids laughing.
