Family Ness

The Family Ness was written and created in 1983 by Peter Maddocks, who also created Penny Crayon and Jimbo and the Jetset - just two other classic 80s cartoons.

Not just one, but a whole family of Nessies live in the depths of Loch Ness, Scotland. The monsters all know that they must have nothing to do with humans, until the day they meet Elspeth and Angus. They are the two children of Mr McTout - the keeper of Loch Ness (and a non-believer).

The main thing I remember, though, was the theme tune and how awesome it would be if I knew Family Ness!

Oh, this was good, and so was the theme song. Did it really first air in '83? They must have gone on showing it for the best part of twenty years. One of those chipolata-preceding lunchtime shows I watched at my Nan's, c.f. Poddington Peas and the Ray Brooks version of Rupert Bear. Who did the voices for this?

You can rock a choo, you can rock a choo, you can go to Timbucktoo, but you'll never find a Nessie in the zoo! I never want to forget the theme tune. : D

There were also a series of children's books based upon this series.

OMG, I remember this, like it was yesterday, here goes the theme tune - Mctooot blows on his bagpipes, while Elspeth and Angus watch those notes, go floating across the waves, Ferociousness, comes over then, turns upside down then flies back in and the beautiful Loveliness, shows she's the kissin kind...... I cant remember the next bit and then it goes, .. and takin notes without a care, returns with a crash and a bash and a splash with the Family Ness !!!! They should bring this back on TV, to show all the episodes, I think the kids would love it !!!!
