The Dickies

The Dickies were one of the first punk bands to emerge from Los Angeles in the 70s. They were influenced by The Ramones' music and their best song by far was the punked-up version of Banana Splits (tra la la la) on yellow vinyl in 1979.

The band had to overcome drug problems in the 80s and losing their keyboard player (Chuck Wagon) and drummer (Jonathan Melvoin). But they still play sporadically today, and in 1988 the band wrote and performed the music for horror flick, Killer Clowns From Outer Space.

Their latest album is called Dickies Go Bananas! - a live recording of their performance at a concert in Portsmouth.
