Easy Bake Oven

Easy Bake was a mini oven so little girls could bake cakes. I remember baking lots of cakes and having cake parties with my Easy Bake oven. It even came with packets of cake mix and round pans for baking your creations in. I thought I was so big because I could bake a cake! I had lots of fun with it! Easy Bake ovens are still popular and are sold at major retail stores. Today, well over 16 million Easy Bake Ovens have been sold, despite some earlier safety concerns over little hands getting trapped in the oven doors and burned.

The first Easy Bake oven was released in the early 60s - it was turquoise and included a carrying handle and a stove top. For years the heat source for the Easy Bake Oven was just a standard light bulb, but the new version actually features a true heating element for your baking.

Ronald Howes was the man behind the original Easy Bake Oven design, and it's no surprise it was a hit, as Howes also had a hand in the design of other classic toys such as Play-Doh and Spirograph.

I went through numerous Easy Bake Ovens during my childhood because I kept forgetting to remove the plastic piece that you used to push the cake pans into the oven...and they would end up melted inside my oven :(

I had one but my parents didn't always want to buy the mixes. I didn't get to play with it very often.
